Red-Cooked Shrimp (Masak Merah Udang)

Ingredients

  1. 500 grams of shrimp
  2. Ground spices:
  3. 5 shallots
  4. 3 cloves of garlic
  5. 2 large red chilies
  6. 5 curly red chilies
  7. 20 bird’s eye chilies
  8. 1 glass of water
  9. Palm sugar and salt to taste
  10. Cooking oil as needed (for sautéing)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the ground spices until fragrant and fully cooked.
  2. Add the shrimp, then season with salt and palm sugar. Stir until well combined.
  3. Pour in the water, cover the pan, and cook until the water reduces and only the oil remains.
  4. Done.
